2023 Stroke Awareness Month

May 2023

Increasing stroke awareness is an important step in the larger effort to eradicate neurological illnesses, diseases, and ailments. Download a copy of our 2023 Stroke Awareness Poster and join us in increasing awareness about stroke and the important role of TCD.

Say Hello to Willy!

January 2023

Based on the circle of Willis, Willy hopes to raise awareness about the importance of transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD). Visit his page to learn more about the circle of Willis, the role of TCD, and how you can take part in the Where’s Willy Challenge. #whereswilly

Blood Flow in the Brain is Indicative of Overall Health

Access to real-time data can prevent disability or death. With more than 200 clinical studies published annually, indications for the use of cerebral ultrasound (also referred to as TCD) are expanding.

PFO

VASOSPASM

INTRAPROCEDURAL MONITORING

The prevalence of PFO among the embolic stroke of undetermined source (ESUS) population is ~40% to 50%.¹

Vasospasm has been reported in as many as 70% of patients after a subarachnoid hemorrhage. ³

It is estimated that every year up to 600,000 patients in the U.S. suffer a stroke during, or after, a cardiovascular procedure.

With 96% sensitivity and 92% specificity, TCD has been shown to detect 3X the number of PFOs vs TTE. ²
Guidelines recommend using TCD to monitor for the development of arterial vasospasm.
TCD monitoring is now recognized as a practical tool to detect intra‐ and periprocedural events.

Physician Perspectives

The Value of TCD

“TCD takes me out of the realm of wondering what’s happening, to knowing what’s happening.”

Watch Dr. Mark Rubin discuss the value TCD provides to his practice.

A Game Changer for the Stroke World

“Transcranial Doppler is available but is so much limited by the user capability.”

Watch Dr. Ruchir Shah discuss NeuraSignal’s “game changer” technology and the ways he uses TCD to improve stroke care.

“Integrating the NovaGuide gives clinicians a chance to look inside the brain at blood flow patterns in real time and rapidly identify physiological changes associated with neurological disorders, enabling efficient diagnosis and triage for treatment.”

Dr. Alan B. Lumsden
Medical Director and Chair of Cardiovascular Surgery
Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center

“It is remarkable that a diagnostic machine used to study the brain could give us insight into the pathophysiology of a pulmonary disease. The benefit of using this particular system was that automated monitoring allowed providers to assess cerebral blood flow while minimizing the potential for exposure to COVID-19.”

Dr. Alex Reynolds
Neurocritical Intensivist and Asst Professor of Neurology
Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai

“NeuraSignal’s solution, including the automated ultrasound and cloud application, provide unsurpassed access and accuracy for cryptogenic stroke management and PFO assessment.”

Dr. Andrei V. Alexandrov
Semmes-Murphey Professor and Chairman of Neurology
University of Tennessee Memphis
